L.A. Unveils New Generation Fund
Enterprise and the city of Los Angeles recently announced the opening of the New Generation Fund at an event located at the Yankee Apartments on LA's Skid Row. The Fund is the city's first multi-million lending tool for the development and preservation of affordable housing and was made possible by a consortium of banks, financial institutions and foundations. Doris Koo, Enterprise Community Partners president and CEO, and Mayor Antonio Villiagrosia were joined by former Senator John Edwards, chair of the Half in Ten: From Poverty to Prosperity campaign, and Yankee resident Teresa Cooper to unveil the $100 million fund. Progress in Gulf Produces Housing, Hope
Nearly three years since the 2005 hurricanes swept the Gulf Coast region, Enterprise and local and national partners continue providing technical and financial resources to help low-income people return home. In New Orleans, 30 seniors will soon move into the newly constructed Wisdom Manor, featuring affordable apartments, wireless Internet and a community garden. Progress occurs across the region, including in Biloxi, Miss. – where the Biloxi Housing Authority has completed or begun construction on 1,000 new homes. Read more about the revitalization underway.
